Hiroko KUBO
Hiroko KUBO was born in Hiroshima prefecture. She graduated from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Art, Hiroshima City University, and completed the master's course in fine arts at Texas Christian University. While drawing inspiration from prehistoric art, folk art, and theories of cultural humanity, Kubo develops large-scale installations themed on farming, using materials commonly seen in daily life. Her major exhibitions include Saitama Triennale (2020), Rokko Meets Art 2020, Where Life Cultivates - The Future of Art Where Agriculture Open (Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art, 2019), and Matsuri, Matsuri (Spiral Garden [Tokyo], 2018), Setouchi Triennale 2016, etc. She is the recipient of the Grand Prix at the 2017 Rokko Meets Art Open Call Award.
